Different groups within US society were affected equally by the Great Depression’ To what extent is this statement true?
The Great Depression of the 1930s saw American citizens lose everything from their homes, to their life savings, to their sanity. It demolished the idea that Americans were living in isolationist heaven. The Great Depression affected everyone including workers, farmers, women and African-Americans. However, the statement that everyone was affected equally by the Depression is inaccurate and misinformed. While these different groups within US society were all impacted negatively by the Great Depression, the extent to which they were impacted differs greatly.
